It's only a 20-minute drive from Bury St Edmunds to Brandon's High Lodge and it's a journey well worth making for the awesome Go Ape!

Go Ape! is a real blast at High Lodge, close to Bury St Edmunds
I had a go the other week and loved the whole thing, from the apprehensive introductory briefing to the challenge of overcoming some fairly scary obstacles it is one big load of fun.
For the uninitiated, it's basically plenty of climbing up trees and lots of walking across bridges, obstacles and wires, most of which are between 20 and 40 feet in the air.
But, don't worry, there's a really good introduction and you're nicely harnessed in for the whole trip round. Warnings are everywhere to stay connected to either the wires of the trees and it is actually pretty hard to have any kind of accidents as long as you show a modicum of common sense.
To start with there's a small tree to climb and a couple of easy obstacles to get past, and then it's the first of the four zip wire slides, which are the real highlight.
I'd say Go Ape! isn't really a challenge for the average person as there really is very little danger involved. For anyone scared of heights, I can see that Go Ape! is a massive challenge and would love to do it with someone really scared to see their reaction.
Only once did I really get a sense of peril and that's on the Tarzan Swing when you have to leap off a platform and into a net about 30 feet away. For a few seconds you actually think that the cable holding you to the wire has snapped and you're going to fall. Seconds later and you're trying to get some sort of grip on the net!
For people in Bury St Edmunds it's a great couple of hours of fun and I'd do it again at the drop of a hat.
