Motorists in Bury St Edmunds fortnight of road works hassle is set to end on Friday in the eastern area of town.

For two weeks there has been a four-way temporary traffic light set up on the junction of Northgate Street, Looms Lane and Mustow Street.

At peak times this has led to delays of up to ten minutes and seen large tailbacks on Angel Hill and down Eastgate Street as far as the A14 bridge.

The work is to replace the old metal gas mains in the centre of town and it's part of a mass overhaul of the old system.

The traffic lights are set to come down on Monday but the work along Looms Lane will continue until September 16.

Nearby traders have said they've been affected by the closures as people haven't been stopping in the area.

Have you been affected by the road works? Is there a way the work could have been done with no major disruption?
