Bury St Edmunds' train station takes plenty of stick in town for it's unkempt look, grim toilets and lack of anything to do apart from catch a train, but that could change with a new £160,000 investment aimed at improving it.

The refurb at the Grade II listed station would mean changes to the booking hall, toilets, staircases, CCTV and the customer information screens.

The injection of cash, which comes from National Express East Anglia, aims to improve the appearance of the station while retaining the building's cultural significance and historic values.

What do you think - is it worth spending this money on Bury's station or do you think its going to be hard to do anything to improve it?

The toilets are one area I would like to see improved, they are pretty awful.

I can think of two simple things that could make that station more accessible to the public. To quote Forever_Free, it needs staff on hand to assist people. Whether to operate the ticket office on a maintained schedule, or escort an elderly/disabled person with heavy luggage to the platform. The other thing? Give the station a ruddy good clean!

I don't think it looks bad but they definately need to have a ticket office thats open and have staff on hand to help people.
