The only surviving Regency playhouse in Britain, it has recently been restored. The programme of events is quite extensive and there are a wide-range of events for all the family including lunchtime readings and concerts. The recent production of ‘A Streetcar named Desire’ was really good.

The Theatre Royal is the only surviving example of a Regency playhouse in the country, providing a year-round programme of arts performances

A couple of months ago I went to the Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds to watch the Suffolk Youth Theatre's performance of Kiss Me Kate.
I am ashamed to say I had not been to the Theatre since its revamp and I was really impressed. I loved all the changes and will definitely be going back.
Kiss Me Kate was great as well !
