Police appeal for witnesses after Kings Road hit and run

POLICE IN Bury St Edmunds are appealing for witnesses to come forward after two pedestrians were knocked down in Kings Road on Saturday afternoon. 

The pedestrians are a man and woman believed to be in their 60s. They were taken to Addenbrookes hospital  by air ambulance and at the time of writing the woman is said to be in a life-threatening condition. The man has suffered a life changing injury after being trapped underneath the black hatchback vehicle involved.

At 4pm on Saturday, shortly after the incident, a 23-year-old man was arrested in nearby Queens Road. This was on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and actual bodily harm. He has since been released on bail.

    Both the man and the woman are improving in hospital which is good news. The 23-year-old who was arrested has been bailed until Feb 8.
