Did you see the robbery taking place at Thurlow Champness jewellers on Abbeygate Street in Bury St Edmunds on Monday morning?
The incident happened at 10am this morning when four men, wearing black motorcycle helmets, raided the jewellers.
They ran from the shop with a bag of jewellery but it was grabbed by a passing 70-year-old pensioner.
Police are keen to hear from anyone who say the motorcycles in the centre of Bury. Call Suffolk Police on 01473 613500.

Was walking past Thurlow Champness last night and wondered why jewellers have their windows so vulnerable. I know they have reinforced glass, but why don't they just have a grill over the front that means you can't smash the glass in the first place.
You can still see through the grill to see the window display but it would surely deter anyone from trying to attack a window with a sledgehammer.
They even have this grill over the windows of Thurlow Champness first thing in the morning but then when they start trading the grill goes.
Surely after two attacks in the last couple of years I don't think anyone would blame them for keeping the grill on!

I know exactly what you mean tg1953, the grill would surely be a good deterent. A 32-year-old man has been arrested in relation to this incident in Islington so that's good news.

A 19-year-old from Islington has been arrested and questioned about the incident and has been bailed to reaappear in Bury St Edmunds on June 23.

A 33-year-old man has been charged in relation to the robbery. Dwayne Marsh of Dewey Road, London has been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and has been bailed to return to Bury St Edmunds Magistrates Court on November 8.
